The system
What is Touch4Wash?
An app-based sales system for independent in-bay and self-serve washes. One-time washes, memberships, fleets, loyalty, and referrals live in one system.
It is a pay station without the pay-station hardware. The list stays yours.
Does this replace my pay station?
No. Coins, CryptoPay, Unitec, Hamilton, and the rest keep running. We wire to the equipment. We go around the kiosk. We do not sell a membership through the pay station.
If the pay station is down, the phone can still start the wash. That is the redundancy. You are not ripping out iron that already works.
Will it work with my equipment?
It talks to the machine, not the pay station. In-bay automatics, self-serve timers, and vacuums are the usual fit. Wash World, Ryko, Petit, Belanger, D&S, PDQ, Mark VII, Coleman Hanna, Istobal, Dixmor, Ginsan, Dilling-Harris, etc. If your control box can take a start, we have probably wired one like it.
Buy-ups (ceramic, Rain-X, and similar) depend on open relays. We confirm that with you, or with your equipment dealer, before you order the advanced module.
How does a driver start a wash?
They open the app on the lot, pick the wash, and start it. The phone has to be at the wash. Geofence. They choose a one-time wash, a membership, or a fleet account.
If they will not make an account in the lane, a QR on that bay takes Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. No account. Each bay has its own code, so the right QR starts the right bay.
On self-serve they still turn the rotary switch. The timer they are billed on is in the app.
Hardware and going live
What do I buy, and who installs it?
An interface module runs up to four self-serve bays, or a basic automatic start. Five bays means two modules. It mounts near the router. Ethernet in. Two wires to a self-serve timer. Five wires to an automatic.
A Wi-Fi module covers vacuums when you cannot pull wire from the equipment room. One module, up to four outputs, mounted out by the islands.
An advanced module sells buy-ups on an automatic. Skip it until you want the add-ons. You can add it later.
You install it, or your electrician does. Pulling wire is the hard part. We ship prints and stay on the phone. We do not send a crew.
How long from the order to the first wash?
About two weeks after the hardware is paid. We build your menus and plans in that window. If the wire is already there, the install is often a day.
You can turn the automatic on first and add self-serve later. You do not have to light up every bay on day one.
What does the internet need to do?
Stay up. Bandwidth is not the issue. No static IP. Customers need cell service on the lot to start a wash.
Memberships
Unlimited, or a set number of washes?
Both. Unlimited is usually one wash a day and 30 a month. Limited plans (3, 6, 9, whatever you choose) are fine. Self-serve should be limited. An open timer gives the bay away.
Start with one strong plan, or three tiers. More than that and people stall in the lane.
Across our sites, unlimited members average about 3.6 to 4 washes a month. Limited plans run about one wash less. Unlimited is easier to sell. The early members are the heavy users. The average settles after you are past the first hundred.
How should I price it?
Price the plan for the average driver. Not the person who already washes twice a week.
A workable automatic membership is about 2.3 to 2.7 times the top wash it includes. A limited self-serve plan is often about three times the average self-serve ticket. Cap the minutes per start.
Sell the wash and the predictability. You are selling a plan they can stay on.
What if they want a higher wash than the plan includes?
The wash still runs. Charge full price, or the difference, in the app. Nobody sits stuck in the lane because the plan was the mid wash and they wanted ceramic.
Can one plan cover the automatic, self-serve, and the vacuums?
Yes. One plan can cover the automatic, the self-serve bays, and the vacuums. That is a whole-site membership. The driver buys the wash, not a single piece of equipment.
On self-serve, the membership limits minutes and how often they can start. It does not lock positions on the rotary switch. The switch still works. The clock is what you control.
You can add a second car in the app. You set the price for that extra vehicle. The account stores type, color, and plate, so the plan reads as specific cars, not a shared code.
What if the card fails, or they cancel?
Billing is every 30 days from the day they joined. If a renewal payment does not go through, the system reattempts it.
They can cancel in the app. It runs through the period they already paid, then stops. You can also end a membership yourself.
Fleets, loyalty, and one-time washes
What are the three ways someone pays?
A one-time wash, with points if you want them. A membership. A fleet account. Same app. Same list. Someone who is not ready to join can still pay, earn, and get an email when they go quiet. The membership is the destination. It does not have to be the first door.
Day-and-time discounts (a quieter Tuesday, a Friday window) flip in the portal and update the app. A seasonal change to the base wash price is a save in the portal. A change to the membership price is one we make with you.
How do fleet accounts work?
You mark a fleet manager. They add and remove drivers and vehicles. You are not chasing tokens or a group text.
On the 1st they get a statement: who, where, when, which wash, then the rate you agreed at the bottom. Autopay charges last month. Towns, fire, and police can stay on a statement you collect. One card can cover many drivers. You can limit a fleet to self-serve, or to certain bays.
Landing the account is the first win. A clean statement is why they stay.
Do I have to run points?
No. You set what a wash earns and what a reward costs. Points can cover a wash, vacuum time, or self-serve time.
Prepaid credit and gift certificates live in the same app. You set the bonus on credit. Promo codes work on washes and memberships. A QR on a flyer can redeem a discount without the app. Signup credit is for someone new to Touch4Wash. You choose the amount. A second account at your wash does not collect it again.
Sharing and cameras
How do you stop people from sharing a membership?
The phone has to be on the lot. One account per device. They enter the vehicle. That stops the casual pass-around. It does not stop a determined person with a second phone.
Most owners run a frequency report, look at the top users, and check a camera when a plate looks wrong. On a limited plan it is usually not the business. Do not buy a camera system to solve a problem you have not measured.
Do I need license plate recognition?
Usually no. Unlimited members average about 3.6 to 4 washes a month. Limited plans run about one wash less. That is not the volume that pays for a plate camera.
LPR is available. It adds hardware and a fee.
Your list, your money, your support
What do I actually see?
Names, phones, emails. Every app wash, with a time. Membership growth. Who is washing and who went quiet. You can credit an account or refund from the portal without driving in.
Cash and the card swiper on the pay station are not in this portal. They stay on that system. Touch4Wash reports what Touch4Wash processed.
Who answers the driver?
The app covers the common questions: points, a cancel, a wash that did not start.
Promo codes, certificates, and a note to the list do not need our approval.
One site, or several?
One to four locations use the Touch4Wash app. The driver sets your wash as home. It opens there next time. Your name, address, and a photo sit on that screen. The rest of the app is standard.
Five or more locations that share a name can have their own listing in the app store. Same screens underneath. If you run more than one site as a group, daily and monthly limits apply across locations. One membership. Not one per lot.
What makes Touch4Wash different
You keep the iron.
The pay station stays. The timers stay. We wire to the equipment and go around the kiosk. If the pay station is down, the phone can still start the wash. You are not buying a new stack to get a membership.
It is not a membership-only app.
A one-time wash, a membership, and a fleet account live in the same system. Someone who is not ready to join can still pay and earn. The membership is where you want them. It does not have to be the first door.
One plan can cover the whole site.
Automatic, self-serve, and vacuums on the same membership. Limited or unlimited. That is a whole-site membership. The driver is a member of the wash, not of one bay.
The wash still runs.
If they want a higher package than the plan includes, the bay does not stop. You charge the difference in the app. They are not stuck because a code would not scan.
The list stays yours.
Names, phones, emails. You run the promo, the certificate, and the note to the list. A campaign does not wait on an approval from us.
They start from a button.
No membership barcode in the weather. The phone is on the lot. They pick the wash and start it. A QR on that bay is there for the driver who will not make an account in the lane.
If the fit is right, the call is about your bays, your prices, and the hardware count. Not a tour of features you already read.
